Medical Expertise and Philosophy
Areas of Specialization: I specialize in electrodiagnostic medicine, which encompasses electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS). EMG and NCS tests evaluate the peripheral nervous system and assist in the determination of a precise diagnosis. Your recovery begins once you have the correct diagnosis. Since 1989I, I have dedicated my medical career to this branch of medicine. This narrow focus has provided me with a significant amount of experience in the evaluation of a wide range of nerve and muscle disorders. Additionally, there are few electrodiagnostic clinics in the United States that have the experience and medical expertise in EMG and NCS that our team has at Bingham Nerve and Muscle.
As the owner of Bingham Muscle and Nerve, I believe every patient and employee should be treated like family members. We have always accepted patients regardless of their type of insurance.
Past Medical and Experience: When I finished my residency training in Dallas, I moved to Jackson, TN to open my EMG practice. I am approaching my 40th year of practice and have clinics across the southeast US.
Unique Medical Experiences: We have multiple locations and physicians serving patients across a large geographical region. Due to the large number of patients seen in our clinics, we are experienced in rare and unusual muscle and nerve disorders that many doctors might not see in a lifetime. We are associated with a hospital residency program in electrodiagnostic medicine and are mentoring the next generation of electrodiagnostic medicine physicians.
Approach to Patient Care: Our commitment extends beyond meeting expectations—we aim to surpass them for both our patients and the physicians who entrust us with their referrals. From the moment patients enter our practice, they experience a welcoming environment characterized by warmth and genuine care. Understanding that time is valuable, we prioritize efficiency without compromising quality. We make every effort to schedule new patient appointments within one to two weeks and maintain minimal waiting room times. This dedication to accessibility and respect for our patients’ schedules reflects our broader philosophy: exceptional care encompasses not only medical expertise but also the patient experience from initial contact through the completion of testing.
Personal Life and Interests
As a child, I spent several years in Africa while my father was a Peace Corps Administrator. Eventually, I returned to the Northeast where I completed high school and college. I attended a Quaker school near Philadelphia where I learned to appreciate individuals from all backgrounds and gained a respect for diverse perspectives.
My wife and I love to travel with our favorite destinations being Colorado, the Caribbean, and Switzerland. We have a love for snowboarding but have had to slow down as we get older. Luckily, we can watch on as our adult children and their children continue the snowboarding tradition. I am a pilot and enjoy flying my single engine plane, which helps us stay in touch with our four children and four grandchildren. On the weekends you’ll often find us cheering on the Vols and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
